Zororo-Phumulani a Zimbabwean funeral insurance company based in South Africa has awarded a laptop and monthly upkeep allowance to Triphin Mudzvengi, a top achiever in the 2019 National Senior Certificate examinations in the North West Province.
Triphin has, through the help of various Good Samaritans successfully enrolled at the University of Witwatersrand (Wits) against all odds. Coming from a poor background, Triphin’s parents could not raise the fees that were required for her to enrol at Wits University. Her plight soon appeared on social media and Zororo-Phumulani offered a helping hand. This initiative forms part of Zororo Phumulani’s 2020 Laptop give-away edition aimed at resourcing matriculates from underprivileged backgrounds.
In a bid to improve the prospects of the girl-child, Zororo Phumulani has also undertaken to provide Triphin with her monthly upkeep for the next 12 months.
The company which offers insurance and funeral policies to its clientele
believes that the best insurance that can be given to a child is education. ”Once a child is educated, the child is ensured for life.” said Mr. Brian Makunike, Zororo-Phumulani’s Operations Director.
It is not the first time that the insurance company has been seen on the forefront empowering students. In September 2019 the company donated a computer lab to Dikeledi Primary School in North West province.
In November 2019 the insurance company provided funding to schools which were affected by Cyclone Idai in Chipinge and Chimanimani, Zimbabwe.
